A picture of Bryce Kalal, who is smiling pleasantly; confidently. His arms are crossed. There is a white border around him as if the image was cut out and pasted on the left side of a light blue background. White text reads "Multi-Screen Music Video Editing Reel," and there is a transparent image in the background of several people singing in a multi-person rectangular grid.

Multi-Screen Music Video Reel

Ever since the global COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from gathering in-person, multi-screen music videos have become the go-to method of making music together without actually being together. The benefit of this style is that you don’t need a fancy camera or expensive studio lighting to make yourself look great — you can balance an iPhone on a paper towel holder and nobody will know!

An album cover for "The Whole in the Pieces" by Bob Fenster & The Windows. It's a dark gray grunge texture with a picture in the middle. The picture is a broken window with the remaining glass on a rusty old windowsill. Outside and out of focus are a large blue metal wall and some green bushes. The inside wall is orange and the paint is chipped away. Above the image and aligned to the left is yellow text that displays the band name. Below the image and aligned to the right is the album title.

Album Art: The Whole in the Pieces

Bob Fenster, a musician from Somerville, NJ, had an album name and a picture he wanted to feature, but for some reason they just didn’t want to work together. That’s where I come in.

Multi-Screen Christmas Videos

After an extremely positive response from the “For the Autumn Sky” multi-screen music video, the Church of St. Michael came back to Kalal Productions for their 2020 Virtual Christmas program–this time with THREE songs!

Yule Be Home For Christmas: A Virtual Holiday Show

A worldwide pandemic isn’t enough to stop the Minneapolis Commodores from delivering the gift of music through their annual barbershop holiday show. With comical poetry, footage from the archives, and a multi-screen music video, Yule Be Home For Christmas was a virtual masterclass in turning limitations into inspiration.

A moving picture of a scene from the "Thoughts And Prayers" music video, with the left half of the frame in full color (labeled "Before"), and the right half with a grainy black-and-white effect (labeled "After").

“Thoughts and Prayers” Music Video

Murder Curious, a punk/grunge/rock band from the Twin Cities, was looking to put together a political music video, but they needed something quick and low-budget. I was ecstatic to help them bring it all together.

“For the Autumn Sky” Virtual Music Video

St. Michael Catholic Church of Prior Lake, MN, has an incredibly devoted adult choir, so we brought them together (virtually) for this 28-person music video.

The album cover for "Saving St. Anger" by Midnight Notion: A digital drawing of a red hand with bonds around the wrist clasping and being pulled upward by a white hand; the background is a red-orange with grungy black lines bursting out from the center.

The Unnamed Feeling

Metallica has been my favorite band since about middle school, so I decided to re-record their worst album, one song at a time.
